Carb boots, air box side
« on: February 05, 2017, 10:40:39 am »
Does anyone have any tips on how to get the boots to carb 2 and 3 all the way on. I remember a while back someone mentioning using a tire tube inflated in the air filter box but I don't have one on hand. Just wanted to see if there were any other techniques. Thanks for yalls time

It might want to be rotated, they have a top and bottom. If they're hard it's really a pain.

Yes, see that nipple at ~11 o'clock in your pic? That lines up with a dot on the air box. New rubbers help. Leave the bolts on the air box off or VERY loose (the ones that attach to the frame). Attach center two and snug up clamps. Then push air box forward and snug up outer two. It helps to have a second set of hands.

slip a large screwdriver between the plastic and the rubber and apply pressure while you tighten the clamp

So carbs aren't leaking anymore! But now when choke is off it's reving very high, and idle strew is almost all the way out too. What would cause this? Bike has never done this.

This sounds a bit like one of the cables is possibly trapped (under the tank) or kinked? Or, maybe the slack is adjusted a tad too tight? It literally takes just 1/8 turn of the cable slack adjuster on the cable to make it hit 1500+ RPM.

Thanks Hondaman, I'll take a look at the cables. Your referring to the throttle cables, correct?
