How Do I Mount My Rear Signal Lights Now?
« on: February 28, 2017, 03:35:49 PM »
The PO basically snapped off the tabs on the grab bar where the rear signal lights attach. 1976 CB750K.

I ground down the mess left on both sides with my angle grinder, (see photo) but what/how should I mount rear signal lights?

Are there any after market LED's that don't need to be mounted in this location?

Make a bracket out of piece of flat steel and mount it to the license plate bracket the mount your turn signals to your new bracket.  15 minute job.

imago, what about something like this?  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle-TURN-SIGNAL-Relocater-Holder-Fork-Clamps-Shock-Bracket-For-Cafe-Racer-/152192140652  obviously have to find ones that fit the diameter of the grab bar.  or you could always have new tabs welded on or better yet find that grab bar.  i think i know someone who has one for a 76.  let me look.

I'm running the Motogadget Blaze turn signals and they are tiny so I made these tabs very small but you could do something similar. I cut off my grab bar tabs because I wanted the turn signals to be hidden.

Although not on my 750, but the idea posted above refers to brackets made to fasten to the license plate frame.  Originally I had two angle brackets on the license plate frame, but didn't really like the look, so I came up with this idea.
Easily fabbed from 1/8" flat aluminum stock available at Lowes.
Did the job for me.

I hope the attachement came through.

I like this idea... how do you keep the brackets you made from rotating and falling down from parallel? Want to make me some brackets? Hmmmm... I think I have some LED signal lights somewhere...

Imago,

I'm certain if you used aluminum as your bracketing material, the chrome sleeve on the seat rail would sort of crush into it and the frame and hold it in place.

Yup, good thinkin'...

I'm off to my favourite store, Princess Auto, to see what they have for alumaniminum stock and/or something like "riverfever" made. "754" should make and sell these. Now, if I can just find those LED signal lights I know I have...

no..no good links..
use a automobil type/or newer from bikes..they use to fit in the rubber hose..even they are sqvare..in form.
.have no idea if it vorks vith old type bulbs in the control lights...or they need to be thanget too/or revired vith diodes....so the common grounding not make problems..

The tabs I made are sandwiched between the grab bar and the frame and the fasteners are pretty dang....fastened. I have not ridden the bike with these tabs and LED's yet so I cannot speak to any issues with them slipping but I'd be real surprised if they did.

And I wish you had said something two weeks ago. This is the second set I made. I threw the first ones away because I wanted them a bit shorter in length.

I use these on the rear, but I removed my grab bar:
http://4into1.com/universal-turn-signal-mounting-bracket-set/

I mount them where my grab bar mounted. They have the perfect offset distance for most mini turn signal stems to fit between bracket and frame.
