CB750 swingarm: Pivot bolt play in frame
« on: March 03, 2017, 03:46:19 AM »
I have noticed that the pivot bolt that holds the swingarm into the frame has a a play in the frame. This cannot be good and there is nothing that keep the swingarm still like a collar that fits toght on both side.

I have not found any other cases with this question, only play in the swingarm with bad bushings etc.

If swingarm is perfect with pivot collar, bolt and bushings or a needle bearing kit must not be enough if the entire assembly has a play relatively the frame.
I have tried 2 pivot bolts of the older model with grease nipples in both ends. Edit: CB750 shop manual has nothing about this on page 127-128 where I expect to read something about it.

- Anyone else that has seen this and done something about it?

I am thinking that you would have to put bushings in the frame to take up the play.bill

I am thinking there some play, for ease of assembly..and it is a production mc from the seventies.
However, fitted properly there is no play once the assembly is torqued down, and it is not an issue.
Perhaps finger tight it..pound wheel forward with rubber mallet, then finish torquing.
