CBX front fender
« on: March 05, 2017, 01:14:41 PM »
I have been looking for a front fender to mount on a early GL front forks I am installing on my 73 750 K. All the fenders I have seen are poor fit to a 19 inch Lester till now. Earlier I saw a 79 CBX on CL and while looking at the pics I noticed the proper fender fit I have been looking for.  My question is....based on the pic does the front fender look like it will fit on my early GL I want to install on my 750?

The critical dimension is the distance between the fork tubes, as you already know. I have played with several fork stabilizers on various bikes and a few fit more than one model due to different spacing. The distance between the mounting brackets of the stock 79/80 CBX fender is 130mm.

You will probably pay dearly for a CBX fender also unless you are lucky.

1981/82 CBX and CB900F fenders fit basically the same and are probably less expensive. They have a little "spoiler" lip to direct airflow to the oil cooler on these bikes. looks a little nicer.

Most fork braces fit fine over the stock plastic CBX fenders. I have fork braces on all my CBXes, 1979, 1980 and 1981. No issues.

Nice, 3 out of the four years made. 2 questions come to mind:

           1. Could you post up some pictures, as I for one, would like to feast my eyes on yours.

           2. Any plans on getting an '82? Just curious.

Sure! My pleasure. No plans to get an 82. Actually, I will prepare my 1980 (U.S. made model) for sale this summer and reduce to the 79 and 81. Too many bikes...
