Nah, i got the battery in my 400 for free, and despite being more than 10 years old still cranks the 450cc high comp hot cam engine no problem! It' s a small traction battery from a 24 V scoot (yes, i have 2, so one spare), small light and apparently indestructible ;D

Seeing the effects of lead-acid liqiud batteries on two 750's, K1 and K7, I would never EVER install one of these in any bike I cared about.

Considering the age of our bikes, and the few years there have been non lead/acid alternatives available, i don' t really see the problem. These bikes were designed for use with the ' old'  style batteries, and when used with proper care and common sense, they pose no threat. The new kind aren' t faultless either, as Li-ion batteries can burst into flames without warning, and i' d prefer a little acid spill over that any day!
