Online businesses that spam you the worst
« on: March 13, 2017, 07:26:57 PM »
I use a dummy account when doing online business.  If for no other reason to avoid clogging my real e-mail account with spam.

What I find is that there are certain businesses that just absolutely spam the heck out of that e-mail account.  We're not talking shady sites or credit card companies - but the kind of company I have no issue doing business with.  Except for their tendency to flood my inbox with junkmail.

Midway USA - Uhhhggg, the worst offender.  I must get 5 e-mails a day from these guys, all "suggested purchases", "discount offers", etc
Amazon - second worst offender.  Constantly asking me to "rate your transaction" or "review your purchase".  I've actually tried to review a purchase twice, both times rejected because I wasn't singing with praise.

Nobody else floods my inbox, occasionally an e-mail will show up - but honestly once or twice a month getting an electronic flyer is nice.  Keeps me up to date on what they have.

Sears did the same thing after I bought some craftsman stuff.

I was getting double the spam thanks to their "proud affiliates"

E-bay and Costco send me daily crap of things I should buy or do. Some people I just put on my blocked list so it just goes to the trash bin automatically.

I think the unregister feature is a trap.  Innocently you ask to be removed from their mailing lists to escape the torrent of spam - only to find that now they'll REALLY hit you hard.

Eric - you may have inadvertently signed up for mailings from eBay sellers.
Should be easy to switch it off.

I hate build.com, the sales girl was calling and emailing me repeatedly.   For some reason, there was no way to block her.  I ended up emailing her asking to stop! And I received another spam....

I checked my old email account and it was so clogged up with doggy emails that I dare not click on any of them for fear of a virus.
