Barn Find Restoration Project
« on: April 13, 2017, 12:09:10 PM »
I just purchased a 1974... I think (7/74 Mfg Date) CB750 for $250.  It was sitting in a field for who knows how long and the engine is seized. I plan on doing a full restoration to original condition.  Most of the parts are there but I will need to find a few missing parts and replace some broken stuff.  My plan is a long term project so it's a good thing I have another bike to ride  ;D

Hello from MN.

You will find threads about loosening up stuck engines.  Most start by pouring in some penetrating oil and letting it sit for days before trying to move the pistons.

Welcome from Texas. ATF & acetone mixed together make a great cocktail to help "unstuck" a motor.  Pour in the spark plug holes...

Great find! I'm picking up some nice info on your thread, glad I stopped by.
If I've learned anything about building a motorcycle, it's check and re-check your work before you put it all back together. Although you do gain more experience by doing it twice.
