I've been really lazy on posting updates on this one. The bike is almost done. Just finished the tank last night. I'll post updates today.

The 4-2 exhaust that came with it had the turn outs and I hated that look. Went with the delkevic system and really happy with it. Fired her up and purred like a kitten.

Got the trip coat done. Going to let it sit a few days and then I'll sand the clear and apply the decals

Thank you! I really wish i could have found some 4-4 exhaust for it. But the new owner is pumped with the delkevic on it. I gotta say i'm very impressed with the delkevic systems.

The stock 4-4 exhaust are very hard to find in good cond. I luckily did find a nice set and have them on the shelf for my '74 550 restore next year.

78 ( I don't think it was 77) has a stepped seat, unlike the rest of the 500/550 bikes, it was a one year only design change.
Personally I find them too restrictive, being 6' 4" I need a little more room away from the tank to be comfortable. Stepped seats do not afford that option.
I think Honda largely went away from the bench seat, it was associated with being a UJM or old bike.

As the some point the foam was reshaped and cover taken on for the stepped seat. It's not bad.

NICE! Unless you are ready to sell a kidney to CMSNL, even reproductions are expensive and in limited supply.

Alright she's ready for her first time out in about three years. Synced the carbs tonight. Waiting on a new petcock and then the tank can go back on.
