Seat pan cracked in two places.... fixable?
« on: April 25, 2017, 03:58:41 pm »
Have a seat pan that's sagging with weight on it and noticed it was cracked in two places.... Is it possible to repair? Feels like plastic.... But maybe it's thin metal.

try a magnet on it to see if it is metal, you will have to remove the cover and foam to fix it,if it is not metal, then maybe some fibre glass mat might give it some strength .bill

Ouch! I was able to weld reinforcement behind the cracks in my seat pan for a permanent repair, but you've got some serious degradation there. The problem with welding new reinforcement to your existing pan is finding enough material to weld to. If you know somebody that does metal work (structural steel, HVAC ductwork, auto body, etc..) they should be able to give you an opinion.

Good luck!

How's the seat cover?  If not in good shape, I'd just look for a replacement seat.

Cover isn't good.... New seat is what I'm thinking.... Maybe I'll stumble upon an exhaust while I'm at it

Every thing is fixable. I would unclip the cover and use fibreglass and fibre matt to fix that. depends on replacement options.
