Just cause I like to speed(within legal limits of course

), I was wanting to know how fast you've gotten your bike up to, and what sprocket setup and such ya got. My 750 Aero rev limiter kicks it at 105.

why do they evel let the bikez go over 80mph (in the US) its rather unsafe ans stupid to go faster than that anyway...

that said I tend to speed very often but not on the bike, (as I havent ridden it yet)

Well on these bikes, well except for maybe stock 73 - 75, the top speed is around 120 or so. This for a stock bike.

personally I would never ride over 155~160 mph as things just happen too fast and you have to watch stuff at least a mile away.
My '550'

has never been over 126mph, thats where wind resistance overcomes power output. It felt a lot safer on bike than in car at 125, so I almost never go over 85 in car/truck/van

I was being chased by some maniac Trucker for some reason i could never figure out. Downhill those Trucks can move. I took a quick glance down and the needle was around 100 mph which actually made things worse for me. I lost him on the next steep upgrade, got off at the next exit. While I know my 750 will do 100 dead stock, I don't do it. 75 MPH is my limit - too much wind noise, and too much strain on my aging wrists to hold on.

Red Haint, I'd swear I saw that CB750 on craig's list or cycletrader just a few weeks ago. Did you just pick that up? I found mine on craig's list and continue to look from time to time for my friend. He's looking for one too.

Stock is about 112mph.
The '550'

should have been a giveaway. Its bored to 591, ported and has Piper cam (the people who did the dohc fuel injected CB350 conversions) Originallly had S&S race exhaust (British S&S not US version)

No Andy, but I know the book and I am living it, and I hate Truck Drivers. 18 wheelers have this thing for me, and I always give them plenty of room. But, I get messed with all the time. I am driving to Fla. for Xmas and a guarantee some SOB is gonna mess with me and I will have to outrun him.

First time it happened was in 1972. I was driving a VW Beetle that had less Hp than my CB750. This dude comes up behind us and starts running us onto the shoulder, we slow, he slows. This goes on for 20 mins. Were were going camping/hunting so my partner opens the roof canvas and points 12 Ga at the windshield. The trucker locked them up and and we calmly motored off. I never asked him if he would have fired. A year before my partner was my door gunner and he hosed down LZs with an M-30 every day. To him it could have been just another day in the office. My CB750 has run 105ish numerous times across open desert roads. It zips right up to speed, I'm sure it'd do the red-line 114 without any problem (well, power problem anyway). Stock.

Was doing 125 on a V-max in Nevada one day, I ran out of cajones before the bike did.

I've run up to an even 100 a couple of times. The bike certainly seemed to have some left in it, but I had no intention of continuing. In fact, I usually don't intend to go so fast. Lately, it seems to be to shake tailgaters on I-25 and pass far enough to get in the right lane and out of the way.

I would like to see what my old bike can do when it's tuned and running properly!

My stock 1978 f3 with 13'000 miles would do 120 everyday. I'll let you know what happens when I get the 836,cam,etc. this winter. Shouldn't go much faster, but will get there much quicker. I passed my buddy on the way to work one day on the interstate at 125!!

When my K3 was much younger, I saw it at an indicated 117-118 mph fairly regular. It was/is bone stock everything.

Had my '75 750 up to 109, 2 up with my now ex-wife. Got a little nervous then cause the front end seemed WAYYYYY too lite! Found out a couple weeks later that the front tire had a cut on the sidewall down to the cords!

Could have been an interesting ride if the cords had let go!

My double nickel era 650 only shows 85 mph on the speedo. It is my belief that if I try to force the speedo past 85 mph, the pick-up on the front wheel will rip the wheel from the front forks. The bike will decelerate rapidly but I will continue at speed until I come into contact with asphalt, at which point I will decelarate more rapidly than the bike, allowing the bike to catch up with me. The beer in my (non OEM) cup holder will spill after the bike tumbles over the only obstacle in its path, my broken and bleeding body.

Why should I go faster than 85 mph and risk spilling my beer?

105mph. On ooooold Cheng Shins. Yes this was very stupid. Would I do it again given new tires and a new chain? Yes. I love to go fast, but there is a time and a place for it. I have never been above 80 on populated roads, and the place where I did this ton run was a freshly paved backroad with almost no other traffic all day long. Needless to say it was completely dry out, daylight, and no wind.

Have you ever tried to drink beer on you bike at 85? It doen't work. You have to be under 55 at least. I take the back roads and slow to 50 and under, take the tab off, it works better, and turn your head slightly when you tip. At least thats what works for me on my bike.
