tuning CR33s to a 1005cc motor.
« on: April 27, 2017, 09:15:26 pm »
Is anyone running CR33s on a big bore (around 1000cc) motor that could give me some insight regarding a range of jets, needles, etc I should acquire before heading to the chassis dyno session.  I'd like to have the necessary range of tuning parts on hand.  CR carbs are new to me, so be gentle.

FWIW, I have a copy of the CR carb owners manual and the troubleshooting guide.

Below is the standard setting for the 33s.

Major parts:
71.25mm JE 10.5:1 pistons
Ported head (RC ported, improved from there by Mike)
Golden rods
DP 315 (Dynoman's RC315 grind)

Thx,

George

Interesting question. (I have almost same setup except for the carbs, Mikuni TMR32)
I look forward to several answers. Same setup with 1005cc and several different displacements too. I've searched around and found that a specific setup with same carbs might be leaner jetted with larger displacement since the displacement increase can suck more air thru the carbs venturis and more fuel from the jets, richer A/F ratio. I guess the CR33 demands a minimum displacement to work well too. Weather, altitude affects too. warmer, higher less fuel.

I've only used 33Crs on a 1200cc, 13.5-1, KZ engine. Not certain what jets I used right now. I'll pull the bowl off and see what's there.
