Does anyone know if the cam chain from a 1983-85 Nighthawk 650 is compatible with the 1983 Nighthawk 550? The part numbers are different, the 550 is 8 "plates" thick while the 650 is 9 "plates" thick. They both have 144 links. Both bikes share tensioner assemblies, cam sprockets, alternator chains, guides and head assemblies. The only parts that I can't confirm are the same are the slippers and crank shafts. New cam chains for the 650 are available, while the cam chains for the 550 are not. I suspect they are interchangeable.
