Con Rod. What is the key they speak of?
« on: May 15, 2017, 01:15:33 AM »
In the CB 500 K1  manual they say to make sure that the key on the con rod faces the exhaust.  Yep no issue there but what is the key they talk of.

I guess it is the key where the bearing locks in?  But having a upper and lower big end shells there are therefore two keys!!

In he picture of the con rod I guess the right side is the side that should point to the exhaust?

Don't want to stuff this up :-[

Any advice appreciated

Keys are the bearing tang slots. They ( the bearing tang slots) should be on the same side of the rod with the big end bolted down. They face forward (front of the engine) when on the crank.

correct me if im wrong but if i'm not mistaken, this is also the side of the that the 'letters' were printed on the rods.  so when installing the rods all of the big letters should be facing forward (exhaust side)

If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem... If it's an electrical problem, it's Cal's problem.
