Does this 550 tensioner look normal?
« on: May 20, 2017, 09:30:52 AM »
Does the end of this 550 tensioner look like it's supposed to? It doesn't seem to want to seat down in its little notch at the bottom of the engine. I wonder if it was bent from being installed incorrectly. Thanks for any info

I have three used ones that came with my blown apart engine and the all have the same tip as yours. I did have to massage the one I made use of to make it fit properly in the seat. They are supposed to have a slight bend to them if I remember correctly.  Apparently it´s easy to miss the little groove in the bottom when installed and I spend a lot of time making sure it was seated correctly.

Thanks for checking! I finally got it in the seat. The key is to put the adjuster bolt through the cylinders first, then lightly tap the cylinders into place and make sure the tensioner is seating in the right spot.

I was trying to get it to seat before putting the adjuster screw through the cylinders.
