I've been admiring my friend's '75 CB400F with its 4 in to 1 exhaust since we shared a rented garage back in the early aughts. It wasn't then and definitely isn't no much to admire, but having been down this road before, I know what lurks under the rust and corrosion. Back in March he gave it to me along with the basket of parts that are no longer attached to the bike. I've never known it to run in the last 17 years and he doesn't think his friend that had it before him for 10+ years ever had it running.
I've had lots of Yamaha XS650s, but this is my first Honda. I'm looking forward to learning all about it and getting it running again. I've been wanting to do a full-fairing race-style build, but might just make it into a track bike. Not sure at this point. This will be a multi-year project.
I'm currently trying to identify the origin of the bike. It has a frame that looks like every other '75 CB400F that I can find online, but it is VIN badged and stamped as a '71 CL350. I'll post a separate thread about that.
I live in Portland, Oregon and make custom bicycles for a living. My XS has been my hobby for nearly 20 years since I found it in a dump. Hoping to bring the CB to similar glory some day!
