'75 CB750 For Sale - Opinions??
« on: June 11, 2017, 08:57:52 PM »
Hi guys,

Wife is looking for a nice old project bike for herself and we came across this (I have an '82 900F)

https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rch/mcy/6160472921.html

I'm familiar with the DOHC bikes obviously but not too familiar with the older single cam bikes so what should I keep an eye out for on these? Anyways, thoughts and opinions.....shoot!

Cheers,
Tony

Hey Tony. Welcome. Since you're asking about buying this for yourself, I'll move this to the SOHC4 Bikes forum.
Generally, we use this section to notify each other of good deals, etc. I'll move this so people can see it better and, hopefully, give you advice on the potential purchase.

Tread carefully on that one for that price. Its looks like a bitsa bike, parts from other years. Check the serial number on the frame and engine to see when each was made. I see later carbs, front fender, later tach, earlier turn signals then K5 etc etc. Itwould not surprise me if the engine was a K7 or K8. Maybe prices are high where you live but down here I would not consider it.

+1.   Plus for $4K, I would expect original exhaust.

Are you able to import a bike?  Does she like the F model??  This one possibly be bought for $2500...

I showed her the F and she wasn't a fan, that said, had a closer look, seller sent me some better pictures and seems a little off so I'm going to pass on this one and keep an eye out for a good, more original one when it comes up.

In US dollars it's closer to $3000. I'm finding some decent priced stuff across the border to the north when doing the currency conversion.

Maybe Canada is different, but that doesn't look like original paint. Where are the stripes?

It is a pretty bike and could be a fine rider.
