Topic: Replace fork seals without removing forks (plus weird oil lock?)

I was inspired by this video to replace the fork seals without removing the upper part of the fork from the bike:

So far, it's going well. My forks seem to be different than what is pictured in the books though. I've got a 75, but maybe these forks are from a different year? Also my oil lock piece, sitting on the end of the inner bit, is missing the bottom rim. Is it busted or is this some variant?

Seems about right.

But that wear on the chrome is unusual and seems inappropriate.
Might want to get that leg out of the tree and make sure its straight and true.

Yea those two pieces from your fork internals are not consistent with a 75 750.

The damping rod shouldn't have that taper. It should be more flat. Also the bottom cap that goes over the rod, should have a flare on the bottom.

That damping rod (at least from the bottom) looks like a 78F rod.

Looking at the parts fiche, the 78F seems the closest match to the components I have. Thanks jamesw.

Shop manual I found online says 145-155 cc of fork oil at disassembly for 78 forks of K or F type. Sound right?
