75 750K CYLINDERS ?
« on: December 19, 2006, 05:04:48 PM »
I am going to a 836 kit and need to know if i can use a 77 750k cylinder in place of a 75 750k cylinder block? Will there be any issues with the 75 head bolting up to it? My donor block is missing too many fins for my taste. >:(

Thanks

The 77 head will work just fine on your 75. Don't know how the exhaust mounts on your 75, but if there are exhaust studs in the 77 head you may have to spin them out(remove) in order to mount your exhaust.
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

I am keeping the cylinder head but  need to change the CYLINDER BLOCK itself. only the CYLINDER BLOCK.

Aggghhhh, I read it too fast :D :D

Cylinder Block you say ;) The only change in the K cylinder blocks that I am aware of is when they added the knock pins(74 model, I think ??? ). These are the 8 dowels and seals that fit in the oil passageways between the cylinder BLOCK and cylinder HEAD. There are recesses in the cylinder block for these dowels and seals to fit in.

You can use any year SOHC K model cylinder block on your 75 engine. If you use a block with knock pin recesses(74-78) then you just need to make sure that you have the knock pins(dowels) and seals as well.

I have a 750 cylinder block without liners if you need a donor, I'm not sure what year it is (I bought it for the liners) but I could post pictures if anyone's interested...

Don't forget the APE Heavy Duty cylinder studs. Helps keep the head gasket from weeping, especially with the 836 kit.
