Finished the mock up and dropped all my hard parts off at my powdercoater.  Rebuilt the 40mm front brakes and waiting on the rebuild kit for the 900ss rear brake.  Also freshend up the front discs and ordered a bunch of parts.

Mind is we ask what was done to the motor?  Looks fantastic, was it just cosmetic?

The motor only had 8000 original miles on it and I know the original owner.  Once I was able to fire up again I decided to not split the cases.  Compression was checked, new belts and pulley bearings and back covers, valves properly adjusted, new clutch and clutch slave rebuild and the rest was cosmetic.

I always look forward to one of your projects, Tige.  Personally, I hate to see the stock red and silver graphics go away, but your visions are usually right on the mark.  I'm sure it will be an awesome bike now that it's in your hands.

Larry, that is some phenomenal touch up work!  Mad skills.  But, everyone who has seen and  appreciates your work... we knew that already.
While simple, I wonder if anyone has flipped the colors on Ducati and use white where it was once red and red for the Ducati logo.  It would be a stark contrast...no clue how it would look.  I will be interested to see Tighe's vision.

Good luck guys!

Idaho is beautiful, from the photos I have seen.
If you are into slope soaring RC gliders they have some fantastic places to fly. I find it to be a fun hobby, combining the peacefulness of gliding and working thermals and the wind with the ability to do some aerobatics when you want as well as high speed passes and pumps; diving and pulling up to soar higher and higher with the energy you build from the dives, a repeated U shaped flight path.

Tighe, as always you have mad skills cleaning up and working on bikes.

Tige,

This is another jewel.

How did you clean up the rotors? Did you re-annodize them? They look pretty fresh.

The rotors were freshened up with VHT 729 caliper paint.  I am on the look out for some nice snowflake or even better would be full floating discs but will use these until I find a decent set.

Tige, your attention to detail is just such a treat to watch unfold.  That engine looks better then it did when it was brand new.  I admire your high standards.  More, more, please...

Hey, David..funny you should mention slope soaring RC planes.  A friend of mine and I did that for years.  Beautiful area to do it.  Loved the serenity, quiet aspect of it, and the focus it required to keep those birds aloft.  A very unique hobby.  Haven't done it for several years now and miss it.

Tige, sorry to have misspelled your name as Tighe...
Do you take an abrasive wheel, 3M, like used for rust repair to strip any build up on the discs or just sand them a bit with a sanding block to strip any resin/brake pad residue or build-up?  If you had a Lathe it would be easy and very quick to do with a sanding block and slow speed...taking longer to chuck them up in something to hold them in the lathe than to give them a clean surface.
Do you bake the VHT after paint?  I found the VHT caliper paint will chip easily unless ran through the oven for curing...and I inevitable chip it and have to rework it if I am not careful with it before heat curing...so getting a batch to be efficient with the oven I have to be careful with painted stuff.  I have had that issue with aluminum bodied calipers...
Larry, should I direct you to a few Idaho slope fliers on RCGroups?  It is peaceful doing alone but a lot of fun with others and some "gentle friendly" slope combat with EPP flying wings can be a ball of fun.  Much harder to have a mid-air or even tag someone with another plane when they are trying to avoid you...
There is even an Idaho slope competition/get together that is significant in # of pilots s well as drawing pilots from states away.

Another small step forward on this build.  Powdercoating is finished so I can begin to reassemble.  Also picked up an adjustable front end and full floating front rotors.

I like the swingarm change-over to black.  It flows nicely with the motor and makes the trellis frame pop more.

I went back and forth on what to do with the swingarm.  Really happy with hoe it turned out and agree it makes the frame pop nicely.
Hope to finish wiring her up this weekend but wont be able to fire her up until the slip ons arrive from Italy, ordered them over a month ago and still waiting.  I was able to get the headers ceramic coated while waiting.

We really are lucky with the parts networks that we have for Japanese bikes.  My buddy is waiting 3 weeks for a seat for a 2015 MV Agusta.

Hack?  C'mon man. 😀   I trimmed the tail section a bit and that was it.  I want to bike to look period correct (90's) with a bit of modern flare.  If it was a more sought after Duc I would have ordered repop fiberglass to cut.

All the racetech goodies should be here this weekend to upgrade the suspension and paint should be done in two weeks.

Hope to get in a few test rides before the rainy season comes back.
