Drive chain broke and smashed hole in case
« on: August 16, 2017, 08:10:08 PM »
Hey guys, I know that there are a couple threads on this already but I had a small chunk of the case fall down inside below the gears. I would love to know if there is an easy way to get it out so that I can patch the hole without taking engine out and taking it apart.

A frequent occurrence early in the 750's history. The answer is pull the engine, split the cases and have the hole welded professionally. Sorry, no easy fix.

First thing to try is drain the oil and drop the pan. If you're lucky you can find the missing pieces.

If you can get the piece out  through oil pan..i used JB weld when i had my FZ1 ..same thing chain cracked/ small hole in case, i used duct tape to cover the JB so it would not run...pulled tape when set then gave it another layer of JB worked great, and that was after two years

The chains are much stronger today so this should not happen! 530 o/x-ring chains will withstand a CB750.
Like D.I.D 530 VX, X-Ring chain for CB750 std or modifed. My K2 project with less than 80 rwhp will get that one.

I use stronger version since my CB750 K6 has over 90RWHP. +80RWHP when I mounted it.
I have the stronger D.I.D 530ZVMX  waiting to replace my DC chain that hardly will snap and has not stretched anything what I can see after about 9000km, mostly hard acceleration.
I guess that a bad/wrong done riveting of master link can cause problems

It would be nice if the hole allows you to turn the engine upside down and just remove the lower case half to get it repaired while leaving the complete top end intact.
