350F Carb clean
« on: August 28, 2017, 10:26:12 AM »
1973 350F
When I pulled the bowls off the bottom of the carbs there are no leaf springs on any of them.

What are these used for ? Will it matter if I do not use them ?

Thanks
Simon

They prevent your main jet and emulsion tube from falling into the bowl.
They are important.

Yep. I worked on a set of 400F carbs where the PO had taken out (or lost?) the springs and remedied it by wrapping wire around the jets and their mounts. I can't say that was the only problem -- drilled out jets, bent floats, no air filter(s), etc. were all there too -- but once rebuilt with proper parts and including the springs the thing ran like a top.
