West Coast Reunion Nov??
« on: September 19, 2017, 09:09:56 PM »
Per Danny's suggestion, I'm starting a new thread. I'm going to be in Santa Maria sometime in November, for a surprise early 90th birthday party for my mom. (Her real birthday is very close to Xmas, so was always celebrated with it, instead of being "her" day.) We haven't set any hard dates yet, but as long as I'm going to be in the area, it would be good to see you guys and gals. Suggestions welcome..

Mooshie could walk there.  If time allows I'd certainly be up for it. Sequoia was mentioned but at that elevation it may already be a little chilly. The Central Coast has a lot going on - even inland a little, Templeton etc.

Anyway, I'm keeping my eye on this thread.

I don't think I can do another this year , maybe next.
Big Sur  is high on my kust for places for me to revisit while I am still able.
Spent a full week there once, maybe twice..it was great.
Of course maybe it has changed a lot. It may have only easy access to one side which may mean leas campers in the State Park.

Big Sur hasn't changed much. I was there a year or two ago. Found a great little hike-in camp site. Little tough getting there from the South these days tho, big problems on PCH. Can only get to Ragged Point without having to go inland, up and around. From your direction - no problem.

Great, beacause I would not like riding to the next town to the south everytime I need beer or groceries. It would be a good place for Gene as it is well shaded.

Along the coast is usually good for most of the year, we our just getting our first coldspell.
It will be warmer soon, could even get hot again.
Where it gets real dicey is having to cross several mountain ranges in a short time frame.

I might be interested. Like I said before, I'm a big fan of the Santa Cruz area. It's about 3 hours north of Santa Maria. Lots of campgrounds, temperate weather, some of the best moto roads in the country, etc. As an added bonus it's only about an hour south of me.
So much to do, so little time.
