Other option could be to buy a good timing light that is modern and will give you a digital read out for tach, dwell, advance, voltmeter, etc...take a look at the better timing lights and see the feature sets. Self powered units have some advantages, especially when dealing with 6V bikes. If that is not needed, then self powered has no advantage other than hook upeasy and less to have to route where heat or belts moving or chain or other moving parts to get to your timing area of the motor. Do realize many modern cars , if not most, have no adjustment for timing, dwell, advance etc. It is all compuuter matrixed and controlled.
