cb750 questions
« on: October 07, 2017, 07:37:17 PM »
hi
I have a few questions which i can't find answers to, they might seem a bit random but I have a pile of bits that I am turning into a bike
1, would you favour (sorry about the spelling I'm British) early or late -accelerator pump-carbs

2, what is the offset on k7 fork yokes - I am using a Kawasaki z1r front end which has thicker forks and   brakes from a gpz1100 and I want to make the steering geometry more or less stock. Incidentally a gpz1100 rear wheel fits an f2 swinging arm with minimal machining of spacers and sprocket carrier and gives you a 2.5" rim even the brake torque arm lines up

3, is there going to be any noticeable performance difference running k6 pistons with a k7 head (this is what is in the motor i have been stripping) the bores are fine and all I really want to do is fit new rings given that I have done the whole bottom end and gearbox and even the primary cush drive rubbers this has already got expensive enough  and pistons aren't cheap

4, is an f2 cam re timed to k spec going to give a noticeable performance improvement over the k7 cam

5, have you noticed any adverse effects on handling after making the frame tubes removable with any of the kits that are available
I'm only trying to build a daily rider but i want to get it as good as I can first time so that I don't have to do it twice

5. My CB750K6-76 with (Franks weldless frame kit) has about 90 rwhp and plenty of torque 87Nm (64 lbf ft). Road handling is really good for a CB750, no wobble when twisting the throttle on a country road. Often from 120 kph and flying away up to 190kph.
Ikon shocks and steering damper that make bike more stable.  Std wheels and tires front 100/90-19 (next will be 3.25-19) 4.0-18 rear which seems to work better than 120/90-18.

Fork is CB750 std with progressive springs and I see no reason for another fork. I guess racers that ride harder on a racing circuit can have use of a better fork.

the main reason for using the kawa front end is that i have it and i don't have the original
i just wanted to know the honda offset so that make sure i was somewhere near it
