cb750 K0 died while running at a light,
« on: October 20, 2017, 01:13:17 pm »
After a 5 mile ride my battery went dead and the engine died at a red light, it's been sitting a lot but I did recently charge the battery on a new maintainer. I got off the street, turned off the headlight and kick started it. I made it home with the lights off. Voltage was low and RPM made little difference. I charged it overnight and this morning the voltage was up but rpm made little difference still. I thumped the Voltage Regulator with a screwdriver handle and it started working properly.

I'll give it a proper cleaning and adjustment of course but thought if someone was a ways from home and this happened, a thump on the V Reg might get you safely back to where you can service it properly.

One other thought is, I found a Pamco ign. on a bike I flipped and moved it to this bike. I'll watch the voltage closely for a while. I have an Auto Meter digital volt meter, I'll mount it between the gauges for a while until I'm satisfied it's good again.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.
