Ok guys, cow sent me 3 valve covers. Theyve been sitting im a box on my bench for a week or so because Friday my wife gave birth to our second child. This morning im back at work and so on my way in i dropped off two of the covers to my friends machine shop. We went over a few options some of which are more expensive than others. My friends father is an old time machinist and also a motorcycle guy, and he mentioned that overengineering this could be a waste if time and money.i showed him what i had and cow apparently sent me covers that are pretty decent. Not at all like my cover that looks like an egg on intake rocker 1. He said that for these covers he will measure all the bores and probably just knurl one end of a solid shaft and drill and tap the other end very similarly to where the 77-78 models are pinned.i brought him a shaft from a 77 cover and he noted that it isnt even very hard material as he could easily file into its surface.Ill know more once everything is measured. Whatever we decide on, i will install on my bike and test for a season.Once I remove my cover, i will work with him on a solution for an egg shaped rocker shaft bore.
