Hello!

new to the club and thankful to have found this community. this coming Monday I will be bringing home a 73 350F !!  It is Bacchus Olive metallic, has 33k miles and needs a lot of TLC. My rating of  it is only fair.  I took a chance on it because its got a lot of potential and the motor/cases are in really good shape. Needs new tires, tank and sidecovers repainted ( I will do the original color  of course, big $$$), at least new slip ons for the 4 into 2 system, new chain and sprockets.   There is a place Mays Moto that offers a rebuild service so I will send them off for that and then put K&N pots on them when they get back.

the story on it is this: I pass this baby on the way to/from work and never thought much of it.  From the road you couldn't tell it was a 350F. Then one day a little birdie told me to pull over and have a look from the side of the road and, well, lookee here.  One day the owner was outside so I stopped to speak with him and take a close look.  He said about two months prior it started sputtering so he just parked it.  then he said not for sale but took my number in case he changed his mind. a few weeks went by and he called to say he would sell.

I went for a real close look and brought a can of ether. He said there was gas in it so I didnt look.  We almost ran the battery down so I tried to kick it with some ether sprayed into airbox.  I was able to get it to start for about 5 seconds. then nothing more.  Looked in the tank and found there wasn't enough fuel in it to even work on reserve.  This plus a near dead battery and the cold air made efforts futile.  He wanted way too much so I left (weeping...) a couple weeks later I reached out to him to make an offer and listed all it needed (more in $$ than the bike cost).  A couple weeks went by and he tells me he will take my offer!

So this is now my 2 winter project.  I grew up on Hondas and had these models: SL100, 160 scrambler, CB350, SL350, SOCH 750 with the last one being an 82 CB 750C.  Then became infected with Harley virus.  However I'm a lot older now and it is getting to be hard to maneuver my Electra Glide in town hence my interest in the 350F.

Anyway, I will post pics once this baby is brought home.

-cheers!

Rebuilding carbs is an easy enough task, just re-use the stock brass when you do it. There's a member here, Harisuluv (James Hale) that offers carb rebuilding services and he's about the best around. If the carbs are oxidized and grungy, send them first to RestoCycle for a vapor blast. Nils is a member here, and works nearby enough to Harisuluv so you can double-tap the shipping for premium services.

Also, you can get nearly original paint kits from:

Good luck, and welcome to the Madhouse!

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Welcome from WI. Good story. Once you get like 5 posts you can put up some pics for us. We really like pics here. If you can start a project thread in the "project" area so we can follow the progress. Good luck with it.

On the contrary...she looks pretty good. We have seen a lot worse. How about a pic of the entire bike.

She looks really nice now. Did the guy give you any history on it? Did she come with a title? Gas leaking? Maybe from the overflow on the bowls, fuel line, fuel T's on the carbs? Let us know how you come out.
