Hello!
My english is very poor: I'm an spanish guy living in France! I've got a marvelous CB400F2 since 3 years, from deutschland. I'm very happy with my motorbike. Every thing is good but power betwen 4000 and 5500rpm is very low. Every thing is "like original" exceptet 16 th sproket instead 17th.

velkome to the international forum..im from denmark...often the springs in the ignision sentifugal regulator goes soft..so it get heigh ignision to erly..so try to thek vith a strotoskobe/ignision light..it can take the power aut of this small engines..

i have a 76 not komplet orginal..have not it tuned up..the cam is a bit vorn..so have only a topspeed at 100 kmt...need some Work done

Thank for this lead, but I have checked the ignition system and it seems rigth. I think the "power/torque curve dyno" is deep between 4000 and 5500rpm... After all it's a very little cylinder reachint to 10000rpm.

32 hp on the rear hveel is fine for a stock..think it vas rated to 37 on the crank..in 1976...

The power is interesting around 3000/4000rpm (~50 to 70km/h in 6th) and over 6000rpm (up to 100km/h). But if you ride between 80/100km/h in 6th, you can't overtake or go up the hills; you must down to 5th or 4th. This behavior remember me my Yamaha RD350 (1975 model): heaven over 6000rpm, nothing under 5000rpm. At least, with de CB400Four you can ride through towns on 5th or 6th silently and without smoke...

The power curve on the cranck from the model for approval in France give 35,7cv DIN at 9000rpm and 3,3mkg at 7900rpm
