OEM Drive chain size on a 78 CB750 K8?

I'm starting to be suspicious that my current 630 chain/sprocket set up is bigger than original. Am I correct?
If so what are the advantages and disadvantages of having this more massive set up. Sure I'm losing a certain amount of power moving all that metal but Is there any compelling reason to spend the $150 + to get it back to original, considering all the other bills I have to pay this month. By compelling I mean safety issues, damage to engine, you know, life and death stuff.

If it is a 78, I think the 630 setup is OEM.

15 tooth on the front and 41 on the back and 88 links to join them together.

I think the 630 looks killer. Yeah, I know it is noisier and overkill with todays chains but it sure looks good.

The 750s were breaking chains back in the day. Honda went to the 630 chain to fix that problem. You will hear a lot of back and forth on this. Todays first quality 530 chain is probably stronger that the old 630 chain. I stay with the 630 since i don;t want to change sprockets. When I change the sprockets i would go with a 530 and not worry about it. Although the 630 goes well with the larger rear tires. I am not sure of how much extra performance wolud be gained using a 530, but for me it is not an issue.

well supposedly a 530 chain will net about .5 hp more. If you stick with a NON o-ring, you will retain more power from what I have read but have to do more chain maintenance.  I like the 630 look too. One other thing is the 530 chain is lighter. It is smaller after all.

I have a buddy who rides a Harley but was restoring a '77 CB750 when I did a bit of riding with him.  At the time, he was jealous of the look of the 630 chain and 4-4 pipes when he was riding behind me.  630 chain may not be efficient, but it does have coolness points.

Cool.  So now I'm free to spend that $150 on something else for my bike!  ;)
Now that I know it's alright, I can begin to appreciate the cool bigness of it
