Japanese characters on CB frame
« on: February 05, 2018, 04:30:58 am »
this is my first time on these forums and I have the following question... Has anyone seen Japanese characters on a CB750 frame where the frame number is normally found?  I have put a photo up on another forum and facebook but don't know if I am allowed to put a link to them.

I get involved with CB750's through my work chopping bikes (old school) and although my personal machine is a shovel chopper, I am building my backup bike a CB750 chopper with an 80's springer.  Rode a similar one from Melbourne to Adelaide one night and loved it.

Hope someone can help me with this frame question.

Have the answer.  Frame is Japanese import and at some time in the past had indistinct numbers and was restamped by the department of transport in one of the Japanes prefectures.  the Japanese characters front and rear of the large numbers are the name of the prefecture.

I don't think anyone has seen Japanese characters where the frame number is stamped into the headstock of the frame.  Can you post a photo, please?
