77 CB550 in Tacoma, WA
« on: February 25, 2018, 07:33:19 AM »
Hello all. I just picked up my first bike, a 77 CB550. I think it's awesome and can't wait to ride it more. I rode it home after buying it, but when i went to take it out for a second time, the kickstart lever broke on an old repair. So it goes. I've got a welder buddy giving fixing it a go, but I imagine I'll need to replace it. An ideas? They don't seem to be all that common.
The bike has an electric starter but it's not hooked up.
I plan on hooking up the electric start anyway, but I've got clear a couple projects from my shop (I'm a professional cabinetmaker) before I can give the bike any love.
Plus it's been snowing here, so i guess I wouldn't be riding anyhow.
As I get time to work on this Im sure I'll be taking major advantage of the resources here, so thanks in advance.
- Zach

They also shouldn't be that hard to find on Fleabay. Last time I looked was for a 550F kicker for a 350F with 400f pegs and found one right away for a decent price.

There used to be a yard in Tacoma called the Rusty Spoke (IIRC), and one in Lynnwood called Bent Bike, but both are closed AFAIK. Might be another in WA worth poking around for, maybe someone else here can chime in. Speaking of which, I wonder what happened to all the Bent Bike inventory, they had tons of cool stuff...

Which one did you buy? If it was in tacoma on craigslist I most likely saw it. Btw, I don't think you want to do any welding to fix your kickstart problem, unless you are referring to the lever itself.

It wad the lever, and i had a welding buddy stick it back together. Worked, but it's the wrong kicker. It sticks out in a way that often catches my pant leg. I've gotten two different ones on the auction site, but neither fit right. Not sure that to do about this.
This was the 550 with the white brat seat and blue tank.
