Tar and bug remover from Auto Parts store do anything for your tree sap Don?
Or Kerosene?
Both would be paint safe but not waxed areas safe...

Yes it does, it's just such a huge area, 28' long x 8' wide. A friend suggested simple green before washing. I have a pressure washer, I might try those two next time.

Took off and put back on front tire on the tractor.  It deflated, was afraid there is a puncture since my little compressor could not fill it up.  Turns out I needed more air to seat the bead and taking it off was not needed.  Oh well, nothing like messing with a tire in 97F and 100% humidity.

New front brake pads on my Lincoln MKT to replace the set I installed a few months and 13k miles ago. The passenger side had little wear, but the inner pad on the drivers side was worn down to where the warning tab was rubbing slightly on the rotor.

Last week I replaced my front tires that went on right after the brake job (so again, about 13k miles). The inner portion of the driver's side was worn down to the cord, which I was fortunate to spot when I happened to park with the wheels turned.

I don't seem to have any bad tie rods or control arm bushings, but next week it goes to get an alignment so I don't ruin the new ones.

Danny, it sounds like the caliper sliders are sticking. I used mark V brakes on my firebird, I'm no longer a fan of them after finally finding parts and installing them, the self adjusting part is crude. Should have used Torino brakes on that 9"er.

Well ,the boys at the local garage just called about my '90  f truck that has been breaking my balls for a couple weeks. They said the engine turned over as soon as they turned the key on which certainly is a surprising development and I can't understand why it'll do that for them and not for me. The 1 year old replaced fuel pump with no miles on it is burned up and it'll be getting a new one to see if  it'll take fuel  and  fire up.
Good thing I left them above access to the tank, that'll save some labor costs. While they have it and sounds like it's positive I'll ask them to give it a tune up, I want to play with something smaller with 2 wheels, for a change.

I went to the local garage to see if those boys were pulling my leg about that truck cranking without doing anything to it. They claim that the non adjustable starter safety switch on that clutch master cylinder sets itself if you " play with it  long enough ".  Don't know if that is true or not. I remember my Mama tellin' me stories about this, so I told them, "If I played with it any longer I might of gone cross eyed".

Nothing went to waste that was salvageable , both cabs were stripped out and the good stuff from the red truck has a new home in the yellow junk yard C &C that I prepped and painted for just this a while ago so it will go with the other trucks in the drive.

I guess your wondering why doesn't that cheap bastage buy a new truck or at least a decent used one?
I'm 62+ , my construction years left are less than the length loan and no company has built a truck that I like better than these.
Besides that , I'm really a cheap bastage.....and it's all fun and games .

RB, not an issue for me rebuilding an old truck and salvaging parts… it is environmentally friendly thing to do imho. It is silly to beat up a new truck that is hugely expensive for a few years. Presuming you are looking to retire within 8-10 years or less…
Construction work isn’t gentle on the body, but it can often keep you fit and healthier than any desk job…

I pulled the starter out of my sweetie's '13 accord. It goes click but needs a few tries before it will actually start. Battery, cables, connections are OK and I hear the solenoid click so that leads me to the starter. I'm hoping for a local rebuild.
Edit local rebuilder said he couldn't get starter parts even though a couple years ago he rebuilt my goldwing starter. Next he said he couldn't compete with the parts store $160 price. He recommended Advance, I went there it was $300 and that was buddy price.
I put it in and it's started 9 times straight. I also did antifreeze, serpentine belt and idler. It didn't need the belt or idler at all. 2013, 120,000 or so miles and not one crack in the belt. The coolant was blue, likely original and clean. I also test charged the battery and cleaned the terminals that really didn't need it.

I took show bikes out of the race car trailer, put the pit bike and golf car back in. I left the maintainer on the dragster batteries after I put on a bike charger plug.

Bought a “new to me” one! Bunch of CVMG (Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group) section members came for a BBQ of Sunday afternoon. Weather was a bit unsettled, so a few drove in (wives invited) with their cars. “Ian” shows up in his low mileage, super clean +10 year old Volvo C30. I watched it come up the driveway and then said to him; “I’ve always liked those cars”. He reaches up under the sun visor and pulls down a FOR SALE sign......

Now I’ve seen this guy detailing his bike with a Kleenex wrapped around a credit card. His stuff is just immaculate. When I asked about the car, he pulled out the Service Record Booklet which has been filled in since day one. He bought the car new. VW dealer (he bought a new Golf) offered him $2500. I added $500 and apparently it’s mine tonight! Don’t need it, but what the heck.....

well i took a rostered day off today to get my first covid shot,so yesterday after work pulled the old steering wheel off my car to re laquer it,i managed to get it sanded last night,i did do a full bare wood sand back over 30 years ago and applied i think 8 thin coats sanding between, took like a week and a half!this time i only sanded back the old coating plus what ever wood was exposed.(ill save the full restore for my retirement)
ive had this steering wheel for years,it used to belong to a distant mate of a mate who had it on his HX Holden panel van in the day,who gave it to another mate who i paid 20 bucks for it then, its an aussie made "maxrob" wheel and are quite rare now.

How big is the emblem Dave? Remember seeing the leather key fobs with a chrome metal plate that a rubberized emblem with enamel was adhered to the chrome plate? Is it bigger than those?

Can you still buy Saas steering wheels Dave? I had a Mustang steering wheel in my XY. we had an American exchange Master Sergeant signals tech working at the Satellite Terminal at Simpson Barracks in 1987, he introduced me to the JC Whitney catalogue, as Jim Croce described them, "The home, of Chrome", and as he could get things into Oz tax free, he ordered me a Mustang steering wheel, figuring that the boss would be the same.

It wasn't quite, but we had a lathe in the basement of one of our buildings that hadn't seen service in maybe 20 years (since Vietnam days) so I fired it up and turned the boss down to fit my steering column, and the 'Stang wheel looked sweet. I threw the XY GS (same as GT) wheel in the tip, and was horrified the other day to see one in worse nick than mine go for $2K on Ebay...... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

What would look good Dave? Would an aluminum outline of the design that was polished be more to your liking?

Or, would changing the red in the design fix it?

Or, is just a stainless dome or disc more to your liking?
Ebony is pretty expensive and tough to turn if I recall correctly.

You want the Holden logo center replaced, not the entire center pad and emblem, right?

Yeah mate, the Saas wheels were good, I had them on a couple of cars but you're right, apart from hot rods and old cars, not much of a market for them now. ;D
