When I have problems like that I am so mad at myself it takes awhile to move on. My condolences. We are all our own worst critics, especially in these kinds of projects.
Experience always costs.
The bike is beautiful, I love all three original colors, candy blue green is my favorite and I rank gold and red both after that. Great bike.
In some ways I think the K1's are maybe the best just because of the carb rack.

Candy blue green is my favorite as well. In hindsight, i shiuld have gone with that color when it was painted.  At the time, i was just thinking, it was originally gold, it should be gold

Yes, there is something very satisfying about that even if its not my favorite color. Not that im hating on the gold, i do really like the gold.

I got my last bit of riding in today. I have to send the tank out tomorrow.  It seems to be pretty good overall, i just have a flat spot around 4k rpm under medium throttle. It seems fine all the way through with light throttle or wide open. I havent pushed all the way through the rpm range because of the fresh top end.

I got the tank back from RJ Cycle today, good as new and perfect paint match. Ron does an excellent job and he helped me out with a fast turnaround on this repair and repaint. I highly recommend him and will be sending him my next project, as well. Lucky for me, that will be soon because i just bought another k1 to get started on. It hasnt arrived yet, but im excited to get going on it. Oh, and in case anyone was thinking about trying the hot glue dent repair kits on an exhaust, it doesnt work. It made a slight difference on some of the little dings but nothing noticable on the bigger ones. Not worth the effort.

Im not really sure if he repainted the whole thing or not. Unfortunately for me, i dont get to take the summer off, since this pays the bills now. I do have a fan, though. Lol.
