Difference between CB750 headlight mounts
« on: May 09, 2018, 11:13:37 PM »
I need new headlight mounts (fork ears) for a new K2 restoration project and wondered why the K0-K2 ones are listed as different from the K3 and onward ones..  Is it just the hole for the reflector or something more important?

I'm no expert but I've found an excellent reference page (Honda 750 buyers guide) and here's what he says

K0-K1 Fork Covers
Painted same color as gas tank and side covers.
On bottom-half of vertical portion are threads for a small reflector.
On horizontal portion, one hole at its end for a turn
signal stalk to go through and then into headlight shell.

K2 Fork Covers
Chrome.
On bottom-half of vertical portion are threads for a large reflector.
On horizontal portion, one hole is at its end for a turn
signal stalk to go through and then into headlight shell.
Looks like K0-K1 shape, but in chrome and with bigger reflector.

K3-K6 Fork Covers
Chrome.
On bottom-half of vertical portion are threads for a large reflector.
On horizontal portion, one hole is at its end for a headlight shell bolt,
and one hole inward of that for a turn signal mount.
Left fork cover has a square mounting hole for turn signal buzzer.

Yup...they will all interchange though, if prefer a certain year's look.
If it works good, it looks good...

That's exactly what I needed to know! Thx.

The K2 are the cleanest looking to use if you are not mounting signals on them.

I ran k2's on my K0 for a couple years. I even tig brazed the reflector holes, retapped them and ran the smaller reflectors.
