1978 Honda cb750 break caliper
« on: May 14, 2018, 05:41:53 PM »
I recently purchased a 1978 Honda cb750 front caliper was seized but is not like most calipers I have seen that have the bleeder screw and break line in a v when you are looking at it installed on the bike from the side but the bleeder screw and break line are in line when you are loooking at it installed on the bike from the side so i did some poking around on e bay and it looked like a cb550 caliper so I ordered one but the cb550 caliper I ordered does not fit because the bolts are not far enough apart but the pads seem to be the same I will try to include pictures of both of any one knows where I can get the right caliper please let me know thanks
Picture 1 and 2 are the right caliper that came on the bike
Picture 3 is the eBay caliper

I think you can't post pictures yet, you need few more posts. I assume your siezed caliper is correct for your bike and you should get one for cb750 not 550.

The 75,76F and 77,78K have the center bleeder, center hose fitting caliper. They have a slightly bigger piston than an earlier one. A seized one can be forced apart by screw it onto a grease gun and pumping the piston out or use the master cylinder with the caliper hanging in a container to catch the fluid. Either way is safer that compressed air even if, a little messy.

Yes I think your right it appears I still need approved by a moderator for the pictures do you think if I bought a cb550 mounting arm that would fit I don’t know if there’s a difference in wheel size, brake disc size, or fork size

Nope they are not the same, although they look it.  550 stuff is smaller
If it works good, it looks good...

The bleeder is the same, nothing else
