Cb550f2 primary shaft noise
« on: May 22, 2018, 07:26:44 AM »
Hello everyone, this is my first post after introducing my self.
I just finished my first SOHC, a 1977 cb550f and after a complete rebuild of the engine and about 2000miles of breking in there is a noise at iddling and i am not sure how normal is. I suspect that is the primary shaft and as i know is kind of normal and it gets better after a good sync of the carbs.

I took my oil pan out for inspection and found what i think too much play in the prymary drum so my question is if this is normal or is there somethig wrong?
The. Chain is new and dampers and needle bearing are not.
I will try to attach a video.

Thanks a lot and sorry for my poor english

I did it and it gets better but my doubt is that when seeing the primary drum it seems to have very much side play as you can see in the attached video. Don't you think that is too much? would it get better with new dampers and needle bearings?
Thanks for your reply

I’m able to see the video. I’m on an iPhone and I can download it and view it.

I don’t see that wobbling back and forth as an issue.
