@rhos: Good gosh, with paws like that, you knew your pup wouldn't be a lapdog. ;-) They were huge!

@starkmojo: When my sweetie of 5 years and I split up, we thought the saddest thing was the separation of our dogs.

dad has a french mastiffe and another mastiffe that is quite a bit bigger but i don't remember what kind exactly... going to their house is pretty annoying sometimes w/ the dogs all over the furniture, slobbering on everything and getting desert dust everywhere!  then, you have to wake up to the goddamn african grey parrot screeching in the next room.  ugh, and he thinks he's going to will that bird to me when he dies...  >:( i'll just put the thing out of my misery.

edit: don't get me wrong, i love animals... just not annoying or misbehaved ones.

I reckon about 20 minutes in the pressure cooker should do the job. Add potatoes and carrots later.

The problem with that idea is that you have to pluck it first.

That bird sounds a bit like an aussie cockatoo, theres an old bush recipe for cockatoo soup, not hard to follow though i havent tried it myself.

Take 1 large bird and place in pot of boiling water
Place 1 large stone in water
Add carrots and potatoes to taste
Boil for 4 hours
Remove bird and discard
Eat soup......

Heres my all original 1996 Black Lab. His name is Tube after a Phish song. He exercises little now and I think his float is stuck as there is a strong smell of GAS always near him. But when he runs he runs well so We will just live with it.

Matt, it looks as if you've got yourself a couple of huskies of some sort. Lovely dogs. But I was told by a mate who had one that he could NEVER let him rum loose; the call of the wild is so strong in that sort of breed he'd lose him for sure. Is this theory true? I've heard many other people say the same thing and I noticed one of yours is tied up. If it is true I feel sorry for the hundreds of huskies that are sold as "fashion pets" in places like France Holland Italy etc where most of them live in appartments!

In my never-humble-opinion, it isn't shameless for a regular member to link to his own website. On the other paw, this  is truly shameless:

Bye the bye, I think it's cool every time this thread gets resurrected. They're all good look looking dogs, cats, horses and fish, but I'm not so sure about Heffay's crab posted on Page 2. If we pitch in and get him another, we can say, "Heffay's got crabs."

Here's trouble on four legs, for sure - Pete, a Jack Russel Terror - he mostly just makes trouble and gets his "brother" in dutch -  a real escape artist :::

And my other guy, named Vern - a VERY Good Boy.  Loves to work, and haul the little kids around. He also tracks like a pro :::

Dogs pulling wagons are cool. You might think about taking him to a pet adoption event. Put a bucket for donations (for the group) in the wagon. I went to one once where a St. Bernard was pulling the donation wagon around. It was difficult to resist putting a buck or two in.

Yeah, pulling stuff is cool- but there's more to this particular dog -  he's a true Hero, saved Wifey's life.
She had taken a bad fall down the stairs here at home, caused blood clots in the brain - she became disoriented, somehow ended up in the back yard, and collapsed there in the middle of the night. I was out of town, and it was February in the Chicago area, bitterly cold.
She would have frozen to death right there if not for this dog. He woke up the neighbors and got help, then sheltered her with his own body till the ambulance arrived.

I went to the trophy shop and bought him a medal with a big "V" on it - probably stands for "Victory", but I told him it meant "Vern", and he believed me.

Wow. Simply, wow. It's possibly all the more reason for him to be a help in raising funds if it were to work out. Given that story, he's earned donations. Again, wow! Give him a pat and a hug from me.
