Quick and easy rear turn signal question(s)
« on: June 28, 2018, 08:22:43 pm »
Good evening/localtime,

I have a 73 CB500K2 and I am trying to figure out the following:
  • Should the turn signals be illuminated when the bike and running (turn signal switch off)?
  • Should the turn signals have power (and still remain illuminated) when winker relay is removed?

Respectfully,
Shane

I do not believe so since the winker/blinker is meant to be an on/off bulb to my understanding. Someone may have wired them to be running lights rather than blinkers.

The Cb500K2 has front run lights in the front turn sigs.  The rear sigs do not operate as run lights. (and shouldn't if they are amber)

The front run lights should only illuminate when the lighting switch is on (as well as the Key switch).

The winker relay operates to gate the power on and off to the winkers.   If they remain on without the relay, you likely have a grounding issue.  The headlight mount ears have (need) a special connection to the greens in the harness inside the headlight bucket.
