78 cb 750 k7 no spark

my bike s electrics have been modified greatly,received a chopper basic diagram ,have removed a lot of wiring leaving the basics as to the diagram,but no spark,the motor turns but dead ,just wondered ,the original right switch block have left because of throttle gear ,the starter button was not working,put another separate button on, would the kill switch maybe have to be connected ,it seems a dead stop

In the stock arrangement, the kill switch takes a Black wire from the key switch that transfers to Black/White to the coils to provide them power.

If your motor spins with the Start button, then the solenoid and Start switch are working. Peek under the tank and locate what wires bring power (Blue and Yellow come from the ignition plate, so there’s another wire color for both coils). With the Run switch and key On, measure that terminal with your meter? Got 12v? If not, trace it back to the control pod and/or Kill-Run switch to ascertain why it’s not carrying power to the coils.

thanks calj737,the wiring is in a mess,the switch block is totally disconnected,would that have a bearing on the spark,have run the black ignition wire that goes to rectifier have grafted that to the coil and also the points ,thanks for your advice

ahh how good is life ,brother phoned and said try red from the ignition to black and white ,enough spark to kill a herd of rhinos  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

That will produce ample voltage, but you now have no KILL switch inline. Hence, key Black to KILL/RUN then Black/White to coils. The way it should be...

the block itself is a mess,will look for standard harness and block,its just going to run round the paddock for the time being,have to use the key to stop for the time,thanks for your help mate :)
