  at this point it is very possible and if that is the seat I run, it will happen. I don't like the radius set of pipes that run from the swing arm to the mufflers anyway.

  That is pretty close to the vision I had when I started, I think I'll start the 2nd mock up tonight after work to refine the size and shape a bit

I like the exhaust.  I don't see many that run up under the seat that way.  The crossover at the exhaust ports has a great look to it too.

Not much on the 550 but I do plan on working on it this weekend, I think I might have secured a, new to me, vintage race fairing. I am going to look at it this weekend if I can track the guy down.

I am also going to pick up and start disassembling the CB 650 I was offering parts off of, I know it was 5 months ago but better slow that not at all. I will check my messages and get with those of you that expressed interest.

        Yeah, I know that this one hadn't been touched upon for at least 120 days.

         But, I'm wanting to know how things are going for Mark and if there's anything happening on that build. Always thought that the exhaust was an interesting item, along with the frame mods to accomadate it. 8) 

          Anything happening on that on that build Mark, or are you to tied up to make any progress on it? Looking forward to it.

Hey guys

I have not being on here much this winter, I usually have some time in the winter months, but that has not been the case this year. I have been working on a school remodel and the work is all inside.

The bike is mostly in one pile and nearly ready to start. I have been dying to hear the pipes and have been looking for some reasonably priced stainless to make another set of pipes.

I still have not decided on a final fairing design or painted anything on the bike. so it will have to be disassembled and painted.

O.K

After setting for almost a year, I have committed to finishing and riding this bike this spring.
a couple of reasons I stopped working on it;
1. was it was time to spend money on it and I did not want to
2. for the last 6 years I have been coaching a local club gymnastics team and that is very time consuming (20 hrs per week)

Well the girls are no longer competing so I am no longer coaching, after not doing anything extra for a while I decided it was time to do something constructive. Another reason to get this going is I sold my 90 xz10 and I am with out a ridable bike
 
To show my commitment I have made some purchases'
1. a small cafe fairing, and grips..  (old bike barn)
2. pod filters..............................( 2 sets ebay)
3 an assortment of carb jets, exhaust gaskets..Z1
4 point plate, coils and wires........................Z1
5 hondaman ignition box...................hondaman
6 led tail tight, halogen head light


And I have taken another stab at a homemade cafe seat

Does this ever happen to you? I started working on the bike for the first time in a year and the wife decides that if I have time for the bike we can redecorate the living room



 I did manage to put a few more pieces on the seat after putting breaks on the daughters and in between coats of paint in the living room

Are you ditching the inner fender completely or going with something else?  I was wondering what, if anything, you were using to shield the pipes and your electrical gear from road grime, water, dirt, etc.

The pipes are tight against one another around the wheel. I have not decided if I am going to weld something on the pipes, like fins or run a full length inner fender. What ever looks cleaner will be the winner.

If you look at the bottom side of the seat, at the rear where the pipes exit, I have bent a lip to fasten which  ever style of panel I decide to go with to

If you look at the bottom of the seat there is a built in heat deflector / brace, the whole seat with in 4" of the exhaust is double layered. I started the bike the other day and was surprised by 2 things, one how quite it was and two how cool the back end of the pipes stayed. One thing you have to consider is that the pipes are 1 1/2" from the head to exit and even the baffles are not very restrictive

 i cant wait to see the bike completed with the exhaust on there-very cool! i dont think ive seen any thing like that on our old hondas.

Well, two years ago I tore up a perfectly good cb 550 with 7500 miles on it. It's only issues were a bad paint job and little miss in 2-3.

One way or another I am going to ride it again, the response I am looking for, what was that??? 8)

Started making brackets to hang the fairing, Hope to have a good idea of the overall look this weekend. The pics posted on the rickman fairing brackets really help get me some direction

I did not take a vid because it was missing on 2 and 3. I did not have all the exhaust studs  in so I had an exhaust leak

I have bought new studs and gaskets so when I get the electrics sorted out I will post sound

O.K. I have a quarter fairing to mount and I was bent on a fixed mounting to the frame, My dad thinks that the fairing should be bar mounted. I have never had a bike with a bar/fork mounted fairing and that was My biggest problem with it. Dad says that with the compact nature of the bike the fairing needs to be tucked in as tight as it can be.

So here is the question, to the frame, or not to the frame that is the question?

Today I spent some time making fairing brackets and a tach mountI went with a bar mount for the fairing and a center mounted single gauge. The factory tach, it will eather need refaced or replaced
