I truly believe that the best pictures of kids are when they're asleep.  My favorite of my son is when he was maybe a little older than Spike Jr., and is zonked out. along with the dog, sprawled across the bed.

My favorite is a picture of my sister in her Sunday best while holding our puppy, Tippy, before church when she was about seven. The picture isn't too funny, but we all know what happened next. The flash gave Tippy a bit of a scare, which caused him to void his bowels all over her. Too bad my dad didn't have the foresight to capture that as well. Talk about schadenfreude.

And while we're on the topic of German words. My favorite, still used often, is "Mit gefühl." It translates to "With feeling." It's what my German prof used to bark at my class when we mumbled through our repetitions. The thing is, in English, the phrase comes out more like "with feeling." But in German, it is a command, "WITH Feeling!" So, I use it often when someone says something that needs a little more feeling. Much better than, "Say it like you mean it."

In my house, Schweinhund wins hands down.  Every time I get a bigger piece of ANYTHING, my 7-year old throws that one at me.

Or, he'll just snort, then bark.  He knows that I know what he means.

Kids!      >:(

More specificically MY kids!!!    ;D

(Of course, he can't really be blamed.  He learned that behavior from his father.  Silly American Pig Dog!)

So I need like 30 posts to be an Enthusiast.  I'm just not enthusiastic enough to sit here and do that.

Enthusiasm is overrated.

If you would have put those words into individual posts you would be an enthusiast by now.  That is how the SPBT works. ;)

so i'm most likely gonna get flak from the white collar folks but  i feel all warm and gooy inside and need to share

i had to do some overtime this morning, 4 hours (8-noon) and my babysitter fell through, so i said screw it and took the boy to the shop.

it was the single best , father-son bonding in my entire life, i'm gettin watery eyed just writing about it ,    he was so into whatever i was doing , and genuinely interested in the fabrication of stair railings, by the end of the day he was cutting pipe for me on the wet-saw by himself (i was standing right there of coarse), using a cope machine,  sitting at the end of my table with a helmet on (old avatar) and oversized gloves , just watching me weld, (he already knows not to look at the arc, but has never had a chance to see it through a mask) asking a million questions (good questions too)  and remembering the answers. .....  made me feel like a real man, if you know what i mean

and his reward for being so awesome ... he got to drive the boom crane al by himself

no it wasn't safe , go ahead and rag on me , i don't regret a second of it
