Not a song as such, just a line from one of the tracks on Santana's album 'Caravanserai' (when he put out good music):

"Hard to really care about tomorrow, today."

I also like the message that Roger Waters espouses in the final track on 'Amused to Death' http://www.rogerwaters.org/atddisco.html

Dark kind of chap, aren't I?

Hot Rod Lincoln is a great song, EC, but inasmuch as I like Thoroughgood, I like the old Charlie Ryan version better.

Ummm...Comander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen? C'mon Ann Arborites! Stick up for your HOMIES!

Or, My other Fave for Arlo Guthrie (as you can tell, it's the live version!):

CHORUS:
I don't want a pickle
Just want to ride on my motorsickle
And I don't want a tickle
'Cause I'd rather ride on my motorsickle
And I don't want to die
Just want to ride on my motorcy...cle

It was late last night the other day
I thought I'd go up and see Ray
So l went up and I saw Ray
There was only one thing Ray could say, was:

CHORUS

Late last night I was on my bike
Ran into a friend named Mike;
Ran into a friend named Mike
Mike no longer has a bike.

CHORUS

This song is about the time that I was ridin' my motorcycle.
Going down a mountain road, at 150 miles an hour, playin'
my guitar. On one side of the mountain road there was a
mountain, and on the other side there was nothin' - there was
a cliff in the air.

Now, when you're going down a mountain road at I50 miles
an hour you gotta be very careful, especially if you're playin'
a guitar. Especially if that guitar is an acoustic guitar.
Because if it's an acoustic guitar, the wind pressure is greater
on the box side than on the neck side, because there's
more guitar on the box side. I wasn't payin' attention ..

Luckily I didn't go into the mountain - I went over the cliff.
I was goin' at 150 miles an hour sideways and 500 feet down
at the same time.

I knew it was the end. I looked down, I said ''Wow! Some
trip". I thought it...well I knew it was...I knew it was my last
trip, and in my last remaining seconds in world,I decided
to write one last farewell song to the world.

Put a new ink cartridge in my pen. Took out a piece of paper.
I sat back and I thought awhile. Then I started writin':
I don't want a pickle
Just want to ride on my motorsickle
And I don't want a tickle
'Cause I'd rather ride on my motorsickle

And I don't want to die
Just want to ride on my motorcy ...cle."

I knew that, it wasn't the best song l ever wrote, but I didn't
have time to change it. I was comin' down mighty fast.

But as you all know, and as fate would have it, I didn't die. I
landed on the top of a police car. And he died. I drove away
on the road that he was on. I came into town at a screamin'
175 miles an hour, playin' the motorcycle song.

I came into town, I jumped off my bike, the bike went around
the corner by itself, went up on the stand by itself, turned
itself off.

I walked over to my friend. He was standin' there eatin'
pickles. I said "Hi, what's happenin'?" He looked at me in the
eye and said "Nothin'".

You gotta sing it with that kind of enthusiasm. Like you just
squashed a cop...

CHORUS

I prefer to put my own lyrics to other peoples songs.
 Heres one:

(sing to the tune of Jimi Hendrix- Foxy Lady)

You know you are cute little grass eater,
and you know you'll get chased with an egg beater,
Dont drop that anvil on my head,
it may be funny, but I'll end up dead,
You've got to calm down, calm down,
Oh... Buggs Bunny...

You know you see real good at night,
and eating carrots is good for your sight,
Dont stand on the edge of a cliff,
It'll break away and you'll go for a dip,
you've got to watch out, watch out,
Oh... Buggs Bunny...

I nearly died laughing.  ;D You almost got away with that assaination attempt  ;D ;)

Listened to this one on the commute in the am. It's a long time favourite, from Wishbone Ash 'Argus' (1972)

Sometime World

I met a man who felt the same way,
That the world had passed him by.
Told me all his troubles,
That the world had made him cry.

Life had kept him waiting,
Regretting his pain inside.
Had to feel underrated,
And hated, besides.

Life had kept him waiting,
Regretting his shame inside.
Had to feel underrated,
And hated, besides.

Sometime world, pass me by again,
Carry you, carry me, away.

Hey I was just a skinny lad
Never knew no good from bad
But I knew life before I left my nursery
Left alone with big fat fanny
She was such a naughty nanny
Heap big woman you made a bad boy out of me
Hey hey!

Ive been singing with my band
Across the wire across the land
I seen evry blue eyed floozy on the way
But their beauty and their style
Went kind of smooth after a while
Take me to them dirty ladies every time

Oh wont you take me home tonight?
Oh down beside your red firelight
Oh and you give it all you got
Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin world go round
Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin world go round

Hey listen here
Now your mortgages and homes
I got stiffness in the bones
Aint no beauty queens in this locality (I tell you)
Oh but I still get my pleasure
Still got my greatest treasure
Heap big woman you gonna make a big man out of me
Now get this

Oh you gonna take me home tonight (please)
Oh down beside your red firelight
Oh you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin world go round
Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin world go round
Get on your bikes and ride!

Oh wont you take me home tonight?
Oh down beside your red firelight
Oh and you give it all you got
Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin world go round

Does anyone remeber "Blues Theme" by Davie Allan and the Arrows. Its an instrumental that starts by kickstarting a bike and ends as it drives away. http://www.sundazed.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=S&Product_Code=SC+6218

From the Movie Wild Angels with Peter Fonda and Nancy Sinatra. They show it on the Speed Channel. Really BAD good movie.

Hey burma,    Wow, how'd you manage to remember the lyrics to Wipeout? ??? :o ;D ::)

The Ventures and the Safaris did My kind of Music. I especially liked Wipeout, Pipeline and Walk, don't run.
Another good one is Tequila, by the Champs  The lyrics for that one are:
                   Tequila
                   Tequila
              I don't think I left any words out. ;D ::)

That's some of my favorite music from the sixties.  Wasn't there a cool song called "Satellite" or "Sputnik?"  Via Iowahawk, I recently discovered an excellent '60's surfer/hotrod band called The Atlantics.  Terry would know them.  Iowahawk also put me on to this gem by the Monks (video), a band of 5 US airmen who came up with a wickedly funky beat in the mid-sixties.

That's it keiths, you beat me to it. Then there was the stuff by Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass. Didn't they do "The Lonely Bull"? I thought the Ventures were great but, never could figure out why they didn't do a better job of "Wipeout"? The Safaris did it better. In my opinion.

My favorite get pumped music: The Hawaii Five-O Theme.  Not the TV version, but one of the extended remakes, like the one done by a London Orchestra on the Cult Files CD set.  As they say, "Man, if this don't get you up, 'Jack, you dead!'"  The two CD set has outstanding full arrangements (not the cheesy ones) of all the great TV themes.  The Atlantics also do a good version of the Five-O theme.

I only have the Chet Atkins' version of Walk, Don't Run.  It's not the most rockin' version, but it's wicked smooth.

That's it mate, I only heard "Bomborra", their world-wide hit, on the radio again last week, that was a great sound, for sure! Here's a link to their website. Cheers, Terry. ;D

http://www.theatlantics.com/
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

It always amazes me that people are able to narrow this sort of thing down to one song/tune. Although, as evidenced above, most of you lot can't ::)

My tastes are so broad, eclectic and changing that I can't do it, despite many attempts, so here's a few of my highlights ;D

Current favourite driving tune:  The James Taylor Quartet - Blow Up

Favourite 'Working in the Garage' tune:  Mostly Jazz, A Charlie Parker collection is getting the most hammer at the moment.

First song at our wedding:  The Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen in Love

Song that most sums up my outlook: Otis Redding - (Sittin' on) The Dock of the Bay 8)

The song that is most attached a specific point in my life though, is Kirsty MacColl's Sun on the Water. The very first thing I heard on the morning of my 30th Birthday (from the alarm clock radio) was that she had died in a boating accident :(

If I got to choose my theme song, it would be If 6 was 9 by Jimi Hendrix

Line that best sums it up:

'cause I got my own world to live through, and I ain't gonna copy you!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If other people got to pick my theme song, it would probably be You Talk Too Much by Run DMC

Key lyrics:

Twenty-five hours, eight days a week
Thirteen months outta year, is when you speak
I'm tired of listening to the garbage you talk
Why don't you find a short pier, and take a long walk
