throttle valves on 77 hondamatic 750
« on: November 08, 2018, 08:05:34 PM »
I am new to the site,  bought a 77 hondamatic which didn't run, but turns over, spark, timing is right, but I am finding most of the problem is in the carburetors..  They were plugged up, the bike sat with old gas for 2 years,  I am finding things that were worked on and not done properly.  Looking at the manual you have on line for this bike, there are supposed to be slots in the throttle valves which must point towards the air filter when installed...article..13-4 in the honda manual,  I cannot see these looking at the intake side of the carburetors,  shouldn't they be visible.  The throttle bodies move up and down free, but can't see any cutaways, is this only on some models, or all should have them... is it possible someone not knowing could have reversed them...

Hello and welcome. I believe that you're confusing the "slot" with the "cutaway". The cutaway is a raised area on the bottom of the slide and will be visible when looking into the carb throat, the slot will not be visible. Take a look at this slide image, it may help https://www.ebay.com/itm/77-78-HONDA-CB750F-CB750K-CB750-CB-750-CARBURETOR-THROTTLE-SLIDE-VALVE-83B-/302314561873  Can the slide be installed incorrectly.........anything's possible.
