BIKE PORN from the international motorcycle show
« on: January 20, 2007, 02:40:29 PM »
Ok, so this was a disappointing appetizer to the upcoming mid-atlantic motorcycle show in timonium, but it yeilded some bike porn so i thought i would share.  i only saw like two of those convention hookers, and didnt bother taking pics, so sorry there are no 'chick shots'"

heres a leaky jawa

WWII harley

hard to get good pics when they are all two feet away from each other, but i liked this BSA

this bike is super cool, i want to find out more about ariel

excellent chief for all yall injun lovers

sweet BSA firebird scrambler

the guys who had this also had the only vintage hondas at the show (not a single sohc4 though)  :-\
the good news is that when they saw i was interested in the bikes they offered to move them around for better shots and ended up talking with lois and i for about an hour about old hondas.  (they were not very busy with the crowd being primarily hardley or 'custom' 'chopper' fans.)  they have started a vintage bike museum about ten minutes from my house and they are on the lookout for a bike for lois.  boy am i glad this happened or the show would have been truly worthless.

sick zundapp

i want this and another week in northern california and then i can die

paul plummer harley dragbike

sorry if you were expecting more and better bike porn  SO WAS I!
but come february i will be swimming in it.

Mate, the Ariel Square Fours were quite a bike in their day, but prone to overheating in the rear 2 cylinders (you can see why!).
I saw one in the flesh the other day that had been slotted into a Norton frame and cafe'd - awesome thing.

Pic file was too big to post here, so have a look here http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r105/peter72mini/IMG_0045.jpg

NICE thread, you all.  Thanks.

That cafe Ariel is quite something.  I wouldn't mind a chance to ride the old original, myself.

I agree with the cool Ariel(s)  When I was a kid growing up down the street from a bike collector, he had two of the big Ariel "square fours".    Really quiet and smooth.  About that Plummer Harley-based drag bike......... ::)  I think he should change his name to Plumber.  Big ol' 1/2" ball valve for a fuel shut off????  What a cobbled up bunch of crap.  Looks like grade school kids put that one together with no plans or supervision.

A guy brought an Ariel "Square 4" to the Holly, MI bike rally a couple years ago. Bummer he couldn't get it started at the end of the day and had to have someone come pick it up (I heard something quit in the ignition). He rode it up there, though.

apparently it broke a speedrecord in 1980.  5.61 second 1/8th mile at 134.84 miles per hour.  and you have to understad that this show was so bad that this bike stuck out as interesting to me.  it was THAT bad.  i included the harley jokes so that we could have a chuckle and skip the hate.  the wwii harley said it was a wla and i believed it.

That's funny- there may have been a WLA, but not in the pictures here.

That Nortiel or whatever looks a little "packed" in there!  It's a very different look.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!
