Greetings from Scotland
« on: January 28, 2019, 07:17:51 AM »
Hi All

I have just been donated a 1978 CB550F by a friend who has had it in a shed for the last 10 years.  There is plenty needing done to it over the coming months but surprisingly it did (just about) fire up last night when hooked up to a fresh battery and an auxiliary tank of fuel linked into the carbs.  I can foresee many questions being asked of members!

Excellent site and the online manuals have already been a great help.

Cheers folks!

Oh yeah my other bikes...
Yamaha TRX850
Yamaha FZR600 Genesis
Honda VTR1000
Triumph street triple 1050
Triumph Bonneville (1968)

Welcome from Minnesota,

Don't under estimate the long distance potential of the 550.  Did a saddle sore 1000 on mine.

Welcome from Massachusetts!

I'm another noob here and working on a 1978 CB550K so maybe we can share info as we go. I didn't set up a project thread here yet but I might.

Cool.

Yup support and shared intel is always good!  I managed to hot wire mine earlier in the week (I don't have a key yet!) and after spluttering a bit she is up an running, albeit very roughly.  But at least there was no nasty noises coming from it.
