My first motorcycle was a Honda step-through I bought for $25. Then an S90. When a friend and I teamed up on a Ducati 250 Mach1 and started prepping it to race (we were 15 years old) parents stepped in. As an alternate, we bought a Canadian built, front engined Formula Junior Sadler and went auto racing. That lasted for 47 seasons. Always had a motorcycle hidden in the back of the Workshop. While racing a Honda Civic and then an early CRX, fell in love with CB750-4’s.
Started picking them up in the mid ‘80s. My first was a K8 that I still have. Restored it 10 years ago, starting with a bare frame. Did a K7 at the same time, for my son. Despite selling a few along the way, we currently are only missing a K2 and K5 from the SOHC 750 line up. No “sand cast” but I just finished a K0 that’s a real show bike. My regular ride is a very sweet K1 (my favorite) and I have a K4 set up with a rear rack for longer trips. My son rides a K3 that’s totally original and he has added a few bits like Lester Wheels and a Gemini 4-1 Exhaust. We also have a ‘75F that I just finished up for Spring.
Last year I stumbled on a ‘77 Benelli 750 SEI. The previous owner passed away before completing the restoration. It came with a K0. Oddly enough, I sold the Honda and kept the Benelli (not the plan). The SEI’s Engine is pretty much a cb550 with two extra cylinders! Put 1,000 miles on it last Fall and will be keeping it for a while, very special machine. The 6-6 pipes sound fantastic!
Been reading this Forum for years and years, finally signed up a few months ago. Also a member of VARAC (Vintage Automobile Racing Club of Canada) and the CVMG Ganaraska Section (Canadian Vintage Motorcyle Group). Sold our house in Toronto a few years ago and built myself a new workshop at our farm, just north of Mosport (Canadian Tire Motorsport Park). Great riding and super roads all around us. My wife and I regularly ride a pair of ‘07 Kawasaki KLR650’s. Cheers, John D.
