carb floats

In the process of rebuilding the carbs on a 1972 cb750.  The floats seem to be in good condition.  Should these be replaced as a matter of course, or is it acceptable to use the old ones?

As long as they dont leak they are fine.
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

 Check the spot where they contact the pin of the float valve  for a dimple worn in it, that can cause it to be a bit sticky. Otherwise go for it.

That float look great.  If the foam (or what ever the black part is made of) is intact and the tang isn't dimpled all you need to do is check that the float sits square on a flat surface.  i.e. the arms aren't tweaked so one float arm is higher/lower than the other.  Smooth off any sharp edges on the brass where it might catch on the float pillars.

Just for future reference for people someday searching if you have old, bad and leaky brass floats in a K1 750 (1971) the black foam are a direct replacement and no more worries.
