German market cb400f lighting
« on: March 26, 2019, 04:10:02 PM »
Was looking around on the cb400f parts book and it seems that the German market got its own taillight and blinkers with a much smaller taillight and smaller but longer blinkers. Found some pics of the lens itself but unable to find any pics installed on a bike, can anyone post any pics?

Also look for cb360 lights, they shared a few parts.

See pic below. The German taillight is not really my taste - it's a generic one that also was on agricultural vehicles like tractors  - but the blinkers certainly are. Smaller, less winddrag  ;), elegant and they will make your bike look bigger. Less plastic is fantastic. After I've changed the blinkers by white ones in front and red in the rear, I have also removed the side reflectors. I have always disliked the amber plastics.

Unfortunately white and red indicators are illegai here in UK after about 59 and the small rear light isnt up to spec plus the rear reflector has to have the correct British Standard number on it. When we get US imports a lot of parts have to be changed/added to be able to register them, older vehicles no problem but just as your Federal laws changes occur year by year and occasionally are retrospective! E.G. All cars/trucks have to have screen washers even if not originaly fitted UNLESS you can fully open the screen and look throught the hole(think very old Land Rover or Jeep that fold down)

Reminds me of what would have been on yamaha. Especially the tail light. Looks cheap to me.

For white lens front indicators there's a solution. I choose the cheapest: https://carfantasy.nl/chroom/amber-powertec-ba15s-lampen-12v-21w-p-529708.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI27n7ncik4QIVSOh3Ch36KQlMEAQYAyABEgJGQ_D_BwE
Resulting in: (see below)
As far as the side reflectors, guess what... I don't think it is even law here.

You can now get an orange glass indicator bulb with level pins so direct replacement for 21w white indicator bulb.

I had those but replaced them by the ones I showed, that look neutral but show orange when flashed. I like the looks more now. With those orange bulbs behind the white lenses, it still looked like eggs sunny side up.

They were on all the Honda's from the 70's.
From Honda cb 125 to Honda cb 750 four.

The blinker lights are still new available.
I have a cb125 with a tail light and blinkers like that.

"Schnapsglas", yeah that really is a nice way to describe them,  :D. That brake/taillight is an abomination however. They used to be on farmers tractors. But hey, € 19,95 for a complete set, that's not a bad deal or is it only the O-rings and screws?.
