The guy who designed these worked with Mr Honda. It was hard to get a decent picture of it as the bikes in this museum were packed in cheek to jowl.

I remember reading an article on these years ago. The engines were very fragile and I think the main issue was poor quality piston rings.
This was at a time when there were a large number of bike manufactures in Japan post WW2 and the competition was fierce. Lilac didn't stay in business long.

There is one at a small museum near Traverse City Michigan.  I had pictures of it but can't find them now...
If it works good, it looks good...

 There's one in my buddy's bar in Victoria Il. I was playing stump the bike guy and showed it to my brother. He said oh look they got a Lilac! He had one when he was in Japan in the air force.
