cb400f Fuel Lines
« on: April 29, 2019, 09:50:08 PM »
Anyone know correct fuel and overflow line sizes for a cb400f? I need to replace all lines running to the carbs (if there are any additional lines I'd love the specs on those as well).

Apologies for the ditsy question but my Clymer's manual doesn't list these specs and I'm seeing mixed answers online.

Thanks!

5.5mm ID for fuel NOT 1/4 inch!!!!!
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

the overflow lines are smaller, around 3 mm, id ...if we're talking about the carb bowl lines. fuel is 5.5 mm.

Actually, there is one more thing - the lines that run between each carb. these appear to be even smaller than the overflow lines. Any ideas on these guys?

thanks again!

this is what comes up for a 400f on hondarestoration.com. Looks like it's 2.5 mm id. unavailable, from this site. That doesn't mean you can't find it somewhere. So, i'd google the part number and start " digging" from there. If you're new at this , you learn how to scrounge around for supposedly unavailable parts. Try davidsilver spares, 4 into 1, etc.

Hard to find. If you want a 100% period correct restoration, keep looking. I used some model plane/car fuel line from a hobby shop, translucent silicon like stuff available in various bright colors - no black. Impossible to see unless you really want to look, and use a mirror (or take the tank off).

Jlh3rd, thanks for the leads. Looks like I'll have to start an excel sheet to keep track of sites to find parts.

Bodi, I'm not after a 100% period correct resto. I just want an honest bike with some very minor mods (those old DOT turn signals have to go!) and that runs and shows well.

thanks again for the help guys!
